What is Festiroll? An overview of the service
Updated on 5 November 2026
In short
Festiroll is a shared photo album for an event: a wedding, a birthday, a company party or a trip with friends. Guests scan a QR code and take photos in their phone's browser, with no app and no account. The professional photographer adds their images to the same album, on their own date. Photos and data are hosted in Switzerland, by Infomaniak.
Four roles in an album
Each album brings together four roles:
- the organiser creates the album, sets the dates and options, and sees every photo;
- guests take photos, write in the guestbook and take on the challenges;
- moderators, chosen by the organiser, check photos and handle reports;
- the photographer uploads full-quality photos in dated deliveries.
The organiser signs in with their email address. The others join with a QR code specific to their role. Festiroll's administrators do not see the photos.
Three modes to start with
When creating the album, the organiser picks a mode that sets everything at once:
- Disposable camera: 24 photos per guest by default, adjustable, revealed together at the chosen time;
- Live: photos not counted, visible to everyone as they arrive;
- Surprise: photos not counted, revealed together at the chosen time.
“Set it up myself” opens the Custom mode: number of photos and reveal time as you wish. In every mode, the storage of the plan is the only space limit.
The reveal
Before the reveal, each guest sees only their own photos. No photo of other guests reaches the phones, not even a thumbnail: the server issues no viewing link before the time. By default, the organiser discovers the album at the same time as the guests. The photographer sets the date of each of their deliveries.
What Festiroll does not do
- No video: the album only takes photos.
- No facial recognition, and no artificial intelligence applied to photos or voices.
- No advertising, no sale of data.
- No app to install: the album opens in the browser.
The interface is available in 6 languages. All features are summarised on the Features page, and prices in Plans and prices.
