Technical questions: browsers, formats, network, languages
Updated on 5 November 2026
In short
Festiroll is a web app: it opens in the browser of an iPhone, an Android phone or a computer, with nothing to install. It accepts JPEG and PNG photos, up to 20 MB for a guest and 64 MB for the photographer. The interface is available in 6 languages.
A web app
The album opens in the browser. Those who wish can add it to their home screen (Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android): it then opens full screen, with its own icon, without an app store.
Formats and sizes
- Guests: JPEG or PNG, up to 20 MB per photo.
- Photographer: JPEG or PNG, up to 64 MB per photo.
- No RAW, no HEIC, no video. Safari on iPhone sends JPEG.
The server checks the content of each file after receiving it, not just its name.
Network
Network is needed to open the album. Photos taken offline wait on the phone and are sent when the network returns. A photo only leaves the phone's queue once the server has confirmed it.
Times and time zones
Each album has its own time zone, that of the event's location. Reveal, photo taking and delivery dates are set in the album's time, even for a trip abroad.
Languages
The album interface is available in French, English, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. Everyone chooses their language. This documentation is available in French and English.
Photo wall
The wall is shown on a TV or projector with a browser, with no equipment to install. It shows the countdown, then the photos. It is not offered when children are present.
For search engines and assistants
A summary of the service is published at /llms.txt, and the text of this documentation, in French and English, at /llms-full.txt. Albums themselves stay out of search engines.
Frequently asked questions
Can Festiroll be used on a computer?
Yes. The organiser manages the album and the photographer uploads photos from a computer or a phone. Guests take photos with their phone.
Is a photo taken without network lost?
No. It waits on the phone and is sent when the guest reopens the album with network.
